Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Announces 2022 Nominees

FELA KUTI AMONG THE 17 ACTS NOMINATED FOR ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME 2022 INDUCTION

Fela has been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2022 Induction

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame released its nominees for induction into the Rock Hall’s Class of 2022.

Among the 17 acts announced is the African legend and Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

Other acts nominated are:

Beck,

Pat Benatar,

Kate Bush,

Devo,

Duran Duran,

Eminem,

Eurythmics,

Judas Priest,

MC5,

New York Dolls,

Dolly Parton,

Rage Against the Machine,

Lionel Richie,

Carly Simon,

A Tribe Called Quest, and

Dionne Warwick.

Last year, Fela was nominated but missed out on being inducted. Should he come in first this year, Fela will become the First African to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The inductees are decided upon by a body of ‘rock experts’ but since 2012, fans have been eligible to vote on a fan ballot that has equal weighting with the other ballots.

You can cast your ballot every day online by clicking here or physically at the Museum in Cleveland.

The five artists with the most votes of these 17 nominees will ultimately make the Class of 2022.

Ballots are also cast at the Museum in Cleveland

The Rock and Roll Class of 2022 will be revealed in May. The date and location for the ceremony are yet to be announced.

Let’s make it happen for Fela!
